At an awards ceremony held on October 9th, United Mid-Coast Charities presented Midcoast Habitat for Humanity with a gift of $5000 towards the group’s efforts to end poverty housing and homelessness in Knox County. Midcoast Habitat’s Executive Director, Tia Anderson, accepted the donation from UMCC Director Marty Martens, thanking her for the organization’s continued support.

Midcoast Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide, and has helped more than 25 local families to purchase safe, decent homes since 1990.  In addition, Midcoast Habitat provides weatherization upgrades for low-income homeowners, community revitalization in some of our poorest neighborhoods, and affordable appliances and furnishings through the Rockport ReStore. Volunteers are always welcome in new construction, weatherization, at the ReStore, or to serve on committees.
