ReVision Energy, Maine’s leading installer of solar energy systems, has chosen Rockport-based Midcoast Habitat for Humanity as the recipient of their first annual Maine Donation solar program. In the coming weeks ReVision will install a 5.3 kilowatt grid-tied solar electric installation to Midcoast Habitat at no charge.

The solar grant, open to any Maine-based 501c3 organization, received applications from nearly 50 non-profits across the state. Midcoast Habitat for Humanity was chosen based on their community engagement, involvement and support, as well as the physical visibility and viability of their project.

“At ReVision Energy, our business is based on our mission, vision and values, and we work every day to give back to our communities in meaningful ways,” says Jennifer Albee, ReVision’s customer relations manager. “We were amazed at the applications we received for this year’s Maine Donation and at the number of deserving non-profits that applied. In Midcoast Habitat we saw an organization with strong community engagement that also leads by doing. This solar electric system will make a meaningful difference in their annual budget by producing 40% of their electricity right from the rooftop.”

Tia Anderson, Midcoast Habitat’s executive director, says, “We were so excited to learn that we’ll soon have solar panels here at Habitat. We estimate that between four and five thousand people visit our ReStore location every year, so not only will we be reducing our operating costs, but we’ll also be showing the community that solar energy can and should be a model for the midcoast.”

ReVision Energy, founded in 2003 in Liberty, ME, also has locations in Portland, ME and Exeter and Concord, NH; ReVision has installed 5,000 systems for residential, commercial, non-profit and municipal customers across northern New England. Midcoast Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1990 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International; Midcoast Habitat’s services include homebuyer education, homeownership opportunities, volunteer services, post-purchase support and ReStore.
